There is a new events in the Spartan Race Deka Series, the Deka Mile (or DekaMile). What is the Deka Mile and what makes it different from the other DekaFit events? Let’s take a look and break it down!
What is Deka Mile?
In short, Deka Mile is the 10 Deka workouts or “Zones” with a 160 meter run in between each zone (1 mile total running) completed for time. The is essentially the Dekafit event with less running. You can find out more about Dekafit here. This is a great sprint event and adds a bit compared to the shorter non running Deka Strong. The shorter course format has also allowed for Spartan Race to hold theses events at a wider variety of locations including in the city. This along with a lower price point ($39 in 2021) will open up these events to a lot more people.
What are the Deka Mile Workouts/Zones?
The 10 workout zones are:
160 Meter Run
Spartan RAM Squat (30 reps)
160 Meter Run
Row 500m at damper setting 5
160 Meter Run
Box Jump Overs (20 reps)
160 Meter Run
Medicine Ball Sit-Up Throw (25 reps)
160 Meter Run
Ski Erg (500m) at damper setting 5
160 Meter Run
Farmer’s Carry (100m)
160 Meter Run
Air Bike (25 calories)
160 Meter Run
Dead Ball Wall Overs 4ft barrier (20 reps)
160 Meter Run
Tank Push/Pull (aka heavy sled push and pull)
160 Meter Run
Spartan RAM Burpee (20 reps)
How Much Does it Cost?
Events currently start at $39. I’ve only been able to find “open” heats available and they are first come first serve when it come to wave time signups.
