Why to Watch
In the world of ultra running, 200 mile races are unicorn for most racers. Something that we dream about, they are fun to talk about, but not something we will ever see in the wild. Even as the 100 mile distance explodes in popularity. This is a next level distance. And very few hold the allure of the Moab 240. Considered to be at the pinnacle of the 200 mile race + distance. So anytime you can get a quality film showing off one of these unicorn races, it deserves a watch.
In fact there are a lot of good reasons to watch this one. It’s not often you will find a film that manages to pack a 200+ mile race into a sub 30 minute documentary with such effect. Creating an emotional journey following Jeff Browning and his crew, on this once in a lifetime journey. Jeff himself is an incredibly likable athlete to follow. And if you read the video’s comments you will read about a lot of positive interactions he has had with other runners.
Tying it all together are the incredible shots of the Moab area from both ground and the air. Steve Lloyd, who both shot and edited the short film did a great job of capturing the pure expanse of the desert. An area that can feel endless as the orangish brown rocky mountains expand almost past the herizen. If you have never had a chance to run in the deserts and high plateaus of the west, then this will give you a great idea of what you are in for.
