Performance Review
Both of these brands have been making quality fitness products for a long time. Sole has been selling treadmills in North America for over 20 years. And has built a reputation for quality and price. Nordictrack has been making home exercise equipment since 1975. And is one of the most recognizable names in fitness worldwide. So with these two models being very comparable in price and features it’s easy to understand why a lot of people find themselves comparing the Sole F85 vs Nordictrack Commercial 1750. Below we’ll break down the running experience for each treadmill.
Sole F85
The Sole F85 is one of the brand’s highest end models before going to a non-folding, commercial gym level. Featuring a lot of horsepower, both figuratively and literally. It’s a pumped up version of their popular F80 treadmill. The F85 offers runners a 4hp motor and a 400lb weight capacity. Making it one of the strongest treadmills at its price point on the market.
Looking at the F85, it’s a comfortable sized treadmill. Offering a generous sized 60” x 22” tread running area. And one noticeable upgrade is the 10.1” LCD touch panel which makes it stand out from other Sole treadmills. When running on the F85 the motor feels strong and has great pull even when pushing at an incline. Sole’s soft whisper deck is a joy to run on overall and I’m a big fan of the deck and motor on the treadmill.
Where the F85 lets down is in its interface and technology. Most Sole treadmills feature a smaller, more basic dashboard and controls. But the F85 has a new 10.1” touch screen with Android interface. And sadly there are bugs in this new system. I had a few tech glitches and one noticeable quark was a hum from the speaker even when nothing was playing. I read a few other reviews with people having the same issue. So I’m hoping it’s something Sole will address.
Nordictrack Commercial 1750
The Commercial 1750 is Nordictrack’s mid tier model in its commercial series of treadmills. And has been updated with new features and technology for 2022. Aesthetically the Nordictrack Commercial 1750 is a really good looking treadmill. The 14” HD screen and sleek design are sure to look good in any home gym. You can tell it’s been designed to go head to head with the Peloton Tread.
Under the hood the Commercial 1750 features a 3.5hp motor with a 300lb weight capacity. The 2022 model does not feature the ability to change the deck cushioning like older models. Two of the biggest differences between the two treadmills is the Nordictrack’s ability to run at -3% decline and the screen’s ability to lift, tilt, and turn (2022 model). The adjustable screen is a great feature if you are using it for iFIT classes like yoga etc.
If you have read any of my past reviews you will know that I am a fan of running on Nordictrack treadmills. They have a great deck cushion system in place and the power is always there when you need it. And having the ability to run downhill is a great pleasure. Where the Nordictrack Commercial 1750 shines is its control panel and iFIT integration. They work seamlessly. The only issue I have ever had with Nordictrack treadmills in the past has been with their customer support. It seems as though 9 out 10 treadmills they sell are perfect. But if you get the 1 off it can be a hit or miss to get anything handled through Nordictrack support.

Conclusion
Two strong treadmills from two trusted brands. One offers big horsepower and weight capacity. While the other gives you sleek design and smooth interface function. So which one should choose?
Which should I buy?
Based on having the best combination of performance, design, and user interface I’m going with the Commercial 1750. The 3.5hp motor is going to be strong enough for most people and the sleek design and user interface are just a generation ahead of the Sole. Aesthetically the Nordictrack Commercial 1750 is a great looking machine and will be sure to grab people’s attention when they see it.
Overall I like the Sole F85, and if you need a treadmill that folds up or has a 400lb weight capacity. Then it is a great choice. The one thing that does hold it back is technology and user interface. Based on the reviews I read my experience was not unique and you may want to wait until they update the model.
