If you are looking for a pro level massage gun then you have probably heard of these two brands. Theragun, the originator of pro level percussion massage guns has been on the market for years earning a trusted reputation for quality and results. The Hypervolt, a newer brand packaging a pro level massage gun that wont break the bank. But when comparing the two brands’ newest high end models, the Hypervolt Plus vs Theragun Pro 4th Generation there is more to compare than just the price tag. One features one of the strongest motors in the class. The other offers a wide range of speed settings and rotating arm for the perfect massage.
After putting in a bit of research and getting to try out both of these products first hand, I decided to put together a quick check list of the biggest differences to help you find the best massage gun for you.
Hypervolt Plus vs Theragun Pro 4th Generation
- The Hypervolt Plus has a higher percussion rate. 3,200 per minute compared to 2,400 on the Theragun Pro 4G.
- The Theragun comes with two lithium batteries. These have a separate charger and the two removable batteries that can be changed out. The Hypervolt also has a removable battery but only comes with one. A spare will run you an extra $80 and that doesn’t include a charging station.
- The Theragun has an arm that rotates. This can help in hitting those hard to reach spots. Especially when using it on yourself.
- Both are considered Pro level massage guns. Meaning they both should be built to last.

Performance Summary
Now for the important part about the Hypervolt Plus vs Theragun Pro 4th generation debate, their performance. I’ve had the opportunity to test out both of these massage guns first hand. Both on myself and letting my massage therapist give them a try and let me know what she thought. The Hypervolt Plus is a strong massage gun but is limited by it’s 3 speed setting. This makes it hard to dial in the exact pressure you are looking for. The battery life is good on the Hypervolt but the removable battery design of the Theragun is the clear winner in that department. The Theragun Pro has a fully selectable speed range and despite the larger body and adjustable arm position, it is the same weight as the Hypervolt. Both coming in right at 3lb (with batteries in). After a week of testing both my massage therapist and I had the same conclusion on the better of the two pro massage guns.
Conclusion Hypervolt Plus vs Theragun Pro 4th Generation
For both me and my massage therapist, it was pretty clear that the Theragun Pro 4G is probably the best massage gun on the market today. It offers a list of features and the quality is top of the line. The body design and rotating arm allow you to get the right position on yourself. And this is even more important when working on other people. The removable battery design was also a huge win. Allowing you to have a backup on hand and ready. The fully adjustable speed range is also a huge win in my book. The question is though, is it worth the price at almost $200 more than the Hypervolt Plus. Which in itself performs incredibly well. And will most likely be more than enough massage gun for most people. But if I’m shopping for a practice for professional applications I’m 100% going with the Theragun.
