5. Sunny Health & Fitness Magnetic Rowing Machine Rower with LCD Monitor
Why you want it: If you’re a beginner looking to try out rowing for an affordable price. Then this may be the perfect rower for you. It’s going to give you a lot of features and allow you to get a great intro to rowing workout.
Why you might think twice: If you know you like rowing and plan on using it a lot. Then you may want to continue down the list. This rower is not meant to hold up to high quantity and high speed workouts.
Sunny Health & Fitness Magnetic Rower Review:
“Bought this machine last summer and my experience was in line with most of the other reviews here until 7 months later when the metal tension coil snapped rendering the whole machine useless. I would classify my usage as moderate (roughly 100 half hour sessions of use). I am pretty handy and had no trouble taking the machine apart and identifying the broken piece (picture included) so if the manufacturer were even able to provide me with just that I’m confident I’d be able to repair it easily enough but I’m not holding my breath.
All things considered, considering quality for price, if the machine lasted longer I’d consider it a 4 to 5 star item but it didn’t, so it isn’t.
Edit! My machine was still under warranty and after contacting Sunny Health and Fitness they sent me a new one, it works great!”
4. Fitness Reality 1000 Plus Bluetooth Magnetic Rowing Rower + Full Body Exercise
Why you want it: The Fitness Reality 1000 Plus Rower offers a great rowing workout and optional full body workout ability. These will be perfect for people looking for lighter weight higher rep workouts.
Why you might think twice: If you are looking for heavier resistance for your rowing or lifting then this may not be the right rower for you. If you already have a weight set you will be better off using those for your full body workouts.
Fitness Reality 1000 Plus Rower Review:
“Easy to assemble, Pretty quiet, Glides nicely! Fun way to get in a full body work out. Love that this rower is different than the rest because this rower as extra arm exercises you can do that others dont offer. Also this rower comes with Bluetooth and a phone app. I connect it as soon as I do my workout. My app shows me my calories burned, distance, speed and stokes all on the screen at the same time. Lastly I like how there is a spot to put my phone. Even if I didnt use the app. I could always connect to Netflix or some streaming app and watch something as well.
The reason I gave this a over all 4 stars instead of 5 because my knees do get sore and I feel that the seat cushion could be a little more comfortable. I do find my self shifting many times while rowing. Would I recommend this machine? Yes no doubt about it!”
3. Stamina ATS Air Rower | Rowing Machine
Why you want it: If you are looking for an air rower on a budget, the Stamina ATS Air Rower may be the right rower for you. It’s compact, smooth, and the air resistance provides a great workout. I’d say this is a great rower for beginner to intermediate.
Why you might think twice: I would say this is for someone that is looking to row but not trying to set PR. The rower is just not built to handle 500 meter all outs during a functional fitness or Crossfit workout. This is also a compact rower, so if you are tall this is not the rower for you.
Stamina ATS Air Rower Review:
“This rower would be good for a slow, casual rower. However, if you want a more aggressive row, I suggest a different product. The strap slipped right off when I started rowing fast. This rower is not like ones you find in gyms, however, you are also not paying for that level of rower. It folds up very neatly if storage is important to you. The range of motion is not as long as the higher priced ones either. This works well for the shorter athlete, but if you are tall, it may be frustrating. I have started the return process. I will note that the seller did immediately reached out to help, however I think it will likely break again in the future because I like to row fast, so I will still return it. Good customer service is always important to note.”
2. MaxKare Water Rowing Machine Water Rower
Why you want it: MaxKare is a reputable brand that has been making quality rowers for years. And for the price is really your entrance into the mid to upper level in build quality of a rower. The unit with water will weigh 90lbs. There is also something very satisfying about the feel and sound of this water rower.
Why you might think twice: If you’re using this rower for times workouts you might find that the water rower measures differently to some air rowers. So your times may not match up. In this price range you also want to watch out for manufactured quality. There have been reports of some units that come with missing/broken parts. But the brand will replace these for free!
MaxKare Water Rowing Machine Water Rower Review:
“This rower is very nice and sturdy. It comes with wheels so its easy to move, its almost 90lbs. I love the clear tank and the sound of the water as I row. The seat is very comfortable and the machine is pretty quiet. The resistance is not high though, so if you are looking for a rower with a lot of resistance this is not going to the one for you. Regardless you are going to get a good work out..“
1.CIRCUIT FITNESS Circuit Fitness Deluxe Foldable Magnetic Rowing Machine
Why you want it: This rower is built solid coming in at 90lbs. It has some great reviews with very few complaints of receiving defective products. And you will find more than a few people talking about returning cheaper models and getting this one. And being very happy with the resistance.
Why you might think twice: If you are looking for an elite lever row you are going to want to take a step to the next level in pricing. While this is a great rower it is not meant to be dragged around a gym and beat up.
CIRCUIT FITNESS Circuit Fitness Deluxe Foldable Magnetic Rowing Machine Review:
“This rowing machine is great! Purchased at ~$450 I find it to be well worth the money. This has two operation settings: manual and race modes. In manual mode you can set your manual workout by time, distance, or total strokes. The machine displays strokes, SPM, splits, distance, watts, and you can also connect a heart rate monitor but I use my fitbit.
I have not used the race mode. But I believe you can set it up based on distance or time.
Pros: It was extremely easy to assemble. I did it myself. The metal frame is sturdy. I’m 5’3″ and I fit the machine fine. It will also seat my 6’3″ husband. The handle is comfortable. The seat is cushioned and comfy. The seat glides smoothly on the rail. The footings do not move like some of the other low costs machine. This is a huge factor. You do NOT want your feet rocking. The foot pedals should be fixed. Another bonus, The footing sizing is adjustable for small feet. I wear a women’s 7.5. If your feet are much smaller this may be an issue for you.
Cons: I can occasionally slightly feel the resistance technology. Not often but it does happen. This isn’t a deal breaker for me with this machine. The price outweighs this concern. Occassionally, my stroke rates jumps before the display settles on a figure. I believe this is due to the resistance technology.
Overall: This is my first investment in a fitness rowing machine. I did a tone of research before buying. I’d recommend that you do the same. And I would definitely RECOMMEND this machine for beginners. You get a lot features and a quality product for the money.”
