Spartan Race has just announced the 2021 Spartan Race US National Series. With 5 events at 3 different distances the races will be held from February through August. Stop in 4 states, Florida, California, Utah, and West Virginia. Will the races happen? That’s a question I can’t answer. But for now, here is everything we do know about the series. And let’s keep our fingers crossed that we get to race this season.
2021 Spartan Race US National Series
- 2/28/2021 – Jacksonville, FL – Sprint
- 4/11/2021 – San Loise Obispo, CA – Super
- 5/16/2021 – Big Bear Lake, CA – Super
- 7/17/2021 – Huntsville, Utah – Beast
- 8/28/2021 – Summit Bechtel Reserve, West Virginia – Beast
Racer Divisions: Elite, Age Group, Open
Only Elite and Age Group will be eligible for awards.
The races themselves will start with the a Spartan Sprint (3 miles) in Florida. Followed two Spartan Supers (6 miles) in California. Then closing out with two Spartan Beasts (13.3 miles), one in Utah and one in West Virginia.
I like the format, starting with the Sprint distance and building up to two Beasts. I do wish they added an ultra there at the end to really cap it off and find the best all around runner. With 5 events across the country and the 2021 season still a big question mark. It’s going to be interesting to see who books their tickets. I was surprised to see that Spartan Race chose 2 races in California for the National Series. As of the end of 2020 it’s been tough for anyone to get event permission in CA, so this seems like a risky decision. I wouldn’t be surprised to see these races moved to other states so just make sure you read the transfer policy before purchasing.
