What is The Spartan Games?

“Spartan, the world’s leading endurance sports brand, brings 24 female and male athletes to the Green Mountain State to film a five-day competition with grueling mental and physical feats for $100,000 in prize money. The “Spartan Games: Battle of the Fittest, presented by Harley-Davidson” unfolds at Riverside Farm in Pittsfield, VT, the birthplace of Spartan, with elite athletes across multiple disciplines including obstacle course racing (OCR), ultra-running, swimming, mountain biking, functional fitness, and other strength and endurance-based events.”

The live event will start October 10th, 2020. Spartan Race will then rebroadcast the event through YouTube this Winter.

How Many Athletes & Events Will There Be?
There will be 24 athletes and 11 events. The press release says it will be a mix of Obstacle Course Racing, Long Distance Trail Running, Swimming, Crossfit, Dekafit, Functional Fitness and more.

Who was left out?
There are a couple of notable names left off of this list from the OCR world. A few that come to mind are John Albon, Ryan Woods, and Robert Killian. On the Women’s side there are few snuffs in Karin Karlsson, Ida Mathilde Steensgaard, and Rebecca Hammond.
What is the Prize?
$100,000. This is big money is big money for the OCR world.
